Wire fraud is real, and it is fast

Criminals monitor real estate transactions and send convincing emails with altered wire instructions. Wired funds are often unrecoverable.

Aureum Title will never email you wire instructions, and will never email you a change to wire instructions.

Before you send anything

  1. Call us first — using a phone number you already have, not one from an email. Confirm every digit of the account information out loud.
  2. Be suspicious of urgency. Pressure to send funds immediately is a tactic, not a deadline.
  3. Check the sender address carefully. Fraudulent emails often use a domain one character off from the real one.
  4. Confirm receipt. After sending, call to verify the funds arrived.

If you think you have been targeted

Call your bank immediately and ask them to attempt a recall, then call us at contact us. Report it to the FBI's IC3 at ic3.gov. Speed matters more than anything else here.
